But as my colleague Matt Yglesias points out, the fact that it is filing confidentially implies that its annual revenues have not yet reached $1 billion.

Instagram has topped 150 million users, as the photo sharing service acquired last year by Facebook prepares to start displaying ads by the end of this year. According to a blog post from Instagram, 50 million of those users joined the service in the last six months.
The mobile app is available on Apple iOS and Google Android devices. Scooped up last year by Facebook for $1 billion, Instagram is now seeking ways to pull in revenue. The Wall Street Journal reports the ad-free Instagram could introduce advertising within the next year.
